Was very impressed with this company when I first joined, they had by far the best deals and also had a charitable cause.

But in July I was starting to get overcharged but did not realise until the end of November (just gone). Called the customer service department (by far the worst I have ever experienced by the way)and they said that they had sent an email to me on the 26/07/16 warning me of a price increase. But I definitely did not receive that email, and they could not even prove that they had sent me an email. Also even if they had sent me an email, they did not even give me a 30 days notice before the price increase which was then put into effect on 31/07/16. 4 DAYS notice which is completely against the law. In the contract it even states that they have to give me 15 days notice, which I'm sure is too little time for a price increase and to also back out of the network. Despite all this, like I said before; I did not even receive any emails of a price increase and there is no proof of this on their end!!

I asked to be refunded the amount they had overcharged me by for the past 5 months,(only £15) only be told a complete flat out "no". The operator was so lazy, sounded like he wanted to commit suicided, completely no communication skills what so ever and it wouldn't even surprise me if he had even been trained to do the job. You think they would be better considering it is based in the U.K. and not in a complete foreign land!!!

All of the information, details and breach of contract has been passed onto my solicitor. I even recorded the phone call which will be past onto my solicitor. £15 is not a lot, but this could've gone on for years if not months if I had not realised. And it's the matter of principle as well. They entice you with "10% to charity", but then will also steal from you without any notice.

I've already asked for my PAC CODE and etc, but I still don't trust these "high profile scammers". So I'll be making sure the direct debits are cancelled from the end of my contract. Knowing these they will still try stealing my money!!

COMPLETELY AVOID. GO TO ANOTHER CHEAP NETWORK. SO MANY BETTER ONES OUT THERE GUYS. TPO ARE TURNING INTO GIFFGAFF - USED TO BE CHEAP AND GOOD, BUT WILL EVENTUALLY TURN INTO MAINSTREAM AND CRAP.

Hi Sam,

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us through the TPO Mobile Community, I'm sorry to hear of the trouble you have faced.

I'm a member of the customer care team in TPO Mobile. I want to take on your case personally and help you to resolve this. As we will need to discuss your account, may I ask you raise a ticket using the link below. If you could include my name in the subject line that would be helpful as I'll be able to find it and take care of this personally.

Additionally, I would like to take the time to express my sincerest apologies if our service has not met your expectations.

Best,
James W.

Seems kind of sad that Jimmy Wales is too busy running TPO to participate here more often than every 7 months.

The people operator phone service, allied with this TPO social network, is a terrible service, and i suggest to avoid it like the plague, the recent change of network, calling for a change of sim card, a ton of internet forms and codes and codes failing, and forced password resets, and all that happens is, you then get no service, so your phone is dead and useless, and you dig up a number for customer service, get 9 options, none of which are talk to an operator, they are all just upselling options. give me my £20 quid back #JimmyWales and you can be rid of me

Hi Justin, agree totally. TPO is the social network with the anti-social edge. I signed a charity up for 15 SIM cards a year or so ago to carry in vehicles transporting vulnerable adults on PAYG. With no notice they cut off all the accounts, and are telling the charity that all the PAYG monies (around £300) will be forfeited. All those top-ups you would have thought that 10% would have come back to the charity. Not at all, zero, zip.

Claire puts up an article on the website on the 29th July telling you what you need to do by the 28th to order a 4G SIM. What a farce.

Hi Justin - I can see you've got a ticket open with care, we've been a little snowed under with customer queries, they'll get back to you as soon as they're able

Claire Kavanagh

Hi Andy, we've been messaging all PAYG customers about the change since early June, directing them to the this article https://help.thepeoplesoperator.com/hc/en-gb/articles/209285325 (the date you see at the top of the article is the last updated date, not the original publish date) - if you ordered a new PAYG SIM card, you would have been informed about using your service until this Friday giving you extra time to activate and transfer your number across. We have sent multiple text messages over the past 6 weeks - last week we sent a message to anyone that hadn't ordered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to encourage customers to take action either to use their PAC code, or order a SIM card to extend their service. We did all we could since June to make sure people were aware and could take action. If you would like to order a new 4G SIM card here, you can do so here: https://www.thepeoplesoperator.com/sim/migration/orderlanding alternatively you can still use the PAC code until it expires to transfer to another network. Regarding balances - they are transferred over to the new 4G Servcie, the article explains how this is done. 10% is calculated at the time of top-up. We tally the amounts quarterly and pay back causes that have more than £50 owing - this switch/ migration doesn't change that, I can see you've got a ticket open with the care team that you raised today, they'll get back to you as soon as they can.

Hi Claire, thanks for your take on this muddle. "We did all we could", with the exception of sending emails to the account holders. I don't get text messages, as the phones are in the vehicles with vulnerable adults. I have had a few emails with marketing messages coming in to my TPO email accounts. The link you sent to 'order a new SIM' gives the message 'Sorry, an error occurred processing your request', as it has done all day.
And '3' SIMS don't work in 2G phones, so even if I had received the text I would have to rush out and buy 15 new phones to put them in.
Yeah, as we've topped up £300 I can see the 10% doesn't come to £50, which explains why it zippo in return. But it does look like its £300 of charity money that your company has masterfully trousered.

Hi Andy, as per the PAYG switch over article - we're not looking to leave anyone out of pocket and we're able to provide refunds to top-ups that were done online. Since you raised tickets this afternoon, an agent has replied with details. With regard to email communications - we attempted to contact all PAYG customers by email, where we had their email addresses, sorry if this didn't get through to you - we did attempt to send several emails throughout the switch over process, along with multiple text messages. We planned regular communications to our PAYG customers to ensure people knew what was going on to allow them to take action - sorry if you didn't receive all of these.
Regarding the order of the SIM card, I just attempted this for you and it went through successfully, so it'll be on it's way to you tomorrow. If you're having trouble, either try a different browser or you can provide the address details in your reply to the agent if you'd rather and they can order on your behalf.
2G: If you require a 2G service, this article here hopefully will help:
http://kenstechtips.com/index.php/m…d-coverage - as most networks are retiring their 2G networks, before you join it would be worthwhile asking if they still support 2G and for how long they expect to continue doing so.

This seems important to me: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-…SKCN0XB22U

One of the things that makes it important is the sheer scale of what is going on. "In its complaint, Microsoft says over the past 18 months it has received 5,624 legal orders under the ECPA, of which 2,576 prevented Microsoft from disclosing that the government is seeking customer data through warrants, subpoenas and other requests."

The sheer scale of the rip off that is TPO is what is most important Jimmy. Or is your 7% shareholding blinding yourself to the sheer scale of the dishonestly there.

I just saw a sweet story here about a boy with leukemia, and it reminded me of something I've been meaning to post for awhile.

I recently have had the opportunity to meet and spend some time with Jennifer Doudna, one of the inventors of CRISPR/Cas9. If you don't know about this: it's probably the most important breakthrough in biology in 30 years or more. The technique allows for actual editing of genes in cells, which gives rise to some amazing opportunities for treatments for genetic diseases for which, previously, the only real strategy was to try to manage and minimize the symptoms.

Here's a great article about an early success:

Is TPO interested in being part of creating original mobile content designed for positive impact as well as supporting good causes? The Guardian Witness published the mobile / web climate change drama I'm developing incorporating authentic news and science - smart execs needed!!
